Visual tools for insight,
reflection and change

Helping people recognise and explore what matters

Insight Visuals offers evidence informed sets of illustrated cards that make thinking, reflection, communication and planning easier. Each card represents a concept — such as a need, strength, relationship, challenge or aspiration.

Designed for adults, teenagers, young children and workplaces, the tools are used in counselling, coaching, education, wellbeing and career development.

How do they work?

People select images that resonate with their experiences or circumstances, then explore what those images mean to them. The cards help bring needs and priorities into focus, open conversations and identify possible ways forward. They can be used individually or in groups.

Tools for thinking, not just communication

More than language aids, Insight Visuals are cognitive tools. Images can stimulate reflection, reveal connections and help people recognise thoughts, feelings and possibilities they may not have previously considered.

Why are they useful?

Recognising what matters is an important step towards better wellbeing, meaning and purpose

Visuals tap into our tacit knowledge, helping us recognise and express thoughts, feelings and experiences that can be difficult to put into words.

Insight Visuals uses our natural ability to interpret images and make connections to help people.

Grounded in research, designed for real conversations

Insight Visuals draws on research into wellbeing, visual communication, cognitive psychology and how people make sense of their experiences.

Foundational Research explored how these images can help people recognise and communicate personally meaningful needs, evoke thinking and synthesis new information.

These insights inform the development of accessible, evidence informed visual tools designed for practical exploration and planning for use across counselling, education, coaching and wellbeing settings.

The approach is supported by the peer-reviewed article Exploratory Visuals and Text in Qualitative Research Interviews: How Do We Respond?, published in the International Journal of Qualitative Methods.

Jude Page, founder of Insight Visuals

Insight Visuals was founded by Jude Page PhD, following many years of research and practice focused on understanding what matters to people and how they communicate their experiences, needs and priorities.

Working collaboratively with artists, Jude has translated this knowledge into evidence informed visual tools that help people recognise, explore and communicate ideas that can sometimes be difficult to express in words.

Insight Visuals operates as a social enterprise, bringing together research, visual communication and practical experience to create accessible tools that support meaningful conversations, reflection and person centred practice.
